VANILLA CAKE 
2/3 c. butter
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 c. milk
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 recipe Chocolate Frosting

Line bottoms of two 9 inch round baking dishes with wax paper. Set aside. Place butter in medium mixing bowl. Microwave at High for 15 to 30 seconds, or until butter softens. Add sugar. Cream at high speed of electric mixer. Add milk, eggs and vanilla. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Beat at low speed until dry ingredients are moistened, scraping bowl constantly. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour batter into prepared dishes. Place 1 dish on saucer in oven. Microwave at Power Level 5 for 6 minutes, rotating dish once. Increase power to High. Microwave for 3 to 5 minutes longer, or until center springs back when touched lightly. Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes. Invert onto wire rack. Cool. Repeat with remaining cake layer. Prepare frosting a directed. Spread on cooled cake. Yield: One 2-layer cake.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
