RED VELVET CAKE 
2 1/4 c. cake flour (sifted 5 times)
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter (no substitution)
1/3 c. Crisco oil
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
2 oz. red food coloring
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add oil and vanilla. Make a paste of cocoa and red coloring and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Slowly add flour alternately with buttermilk. Mix well. Mix soda and vinegar. Blend into batter. Bake in layers 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Grease and flour pans. Frost with Cream Icing.
