MASON JAR CAKE | |
2/3 c. Crisco 4 eggs 2/3 c. water 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cloves 2 1/4 c. sugar 2 c. applesauce 3 1/3 c. flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 2/3 c. nuts Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs, applesauce and water. Sift dry ingredients and add to applesauce mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour into 8 well greased wide mouth pint jars. Fill 1/2 full. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove from oven, one at a time; wipe edges clean. Cut off any excess over rims and put on the lids and rings. Keeps 3 months. Jars can sit directly on the oven rack while baking. |
