FORGOTTEN MERINGUE CAKE 
5 egg whites
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 1/2 c. sugar

Heat oven at 400 degrees at least 1/2 hour. Beat egg whites until frothy. Add salt and cream of tartar. Beat until soft peaks form. Spread in a buttered and floured 9" square pan or pie pan. Foil may be used to line pan. Place in a well heated oven. Turn off oven; leave in oven overnight. About 2 hours before serving, spread whipped cream on top and refrigerate. Just before serving, top with strawberries or raspberries.
