JOY'S COFFEECAKE 
TOPPING:

2 tbsp. butter, soft
3 tbsp. flour
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. nuts, chopped

Cream butter and flour. Add brown sugar. Mix until crumbly. Add nuts.

CAKE:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs, beaten
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 pt. sour cream

Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually. Beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and beaten eggs. Beat together. Sift dry ingredients together. Alternately add dry ingredients and sour cream. Start and end with dry. Pour 1/2 batter into pan. Cover with 1/2 nut mix. Cover with remaining batter and nuts. Bake at 300 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Makes two 8 inch cakes or one 13 x 9 inch.
