APPLE BUTTER BARS | |
1 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 2 1/2 c. quick-cooking oats, uncooked 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. butter, melted 1 1/2 c. apple butter Combine flour, soda, and salt in a large bowl; add oats and sugar. Stir in butter and mix well. Press 1/2 of mixture into greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish; top with apple butter. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture; press gently with a spoon. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes or until browned. Cool, cut into bars. Yield: 3 dozen bars. NOTE: Also good with apricot preserves as a substitute for apple butter. Use a 12 ounce jar of preserves. |
