1 1/2 c. scalded milk 1/4 lb. butter Combine and let cool until lukewarm. Add: 1/2 c. beaten egg yolks (about 5 or 6) 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. sugar Beat the above ingredients and add 1/2 grated orange rind (grate 1/2 of the orange rind). Add 1/2 cup raisins and 5 cups of flour. Cover and let set until double, then knead down and let raise second time. Put in 3 pans and let raise again. TOPPING: 1/3 c. sugar 1/3 c. flour 3 tbsp butter 1 tsp. mace Moisten to make stick. Or frost with regular frosting. Bake at 300 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. |
