RAISED DOUGHNUTS | |
2 c. milk (scald) 1 c. hot water 2/3 c. melted shortening 1 c. sugar 4 tsp. salt 2 beaten eggs 2 yeast cakes dissolved in 1/2 c. warm water 8 c. flour Mix milk, water, shortening, sugar and salt. Let stand until lukewarm. Mix in eggs and dissolved yeast with flour. Roll out, adding just enough flour to make workable. Cut with donut cutter. Put about 3 or 4 in kettle of hot fat, depending on size of kettle. When brown on one side, turn over and cook on other. Drain on paper. This makes between 4 and 6 dozen donuts. When slightly cooled can be dusted with powdered sugar, or just white sugar or left plain. |
