FRY BREAD | |
4 c. flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1/2 c. dry milk Mix together. Add lukewarm water to make soft dough. Let rest 20 minutes. (I sometimes mix in morning, cover in tupperware and fry for dinner.) Pat or roll out 1/4 inch thick, fry in hot oil in skillet (400 degrees). Brown on one side and turn. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot with honey. Makes 12 pieces. FOR TORTILLAS (18 pieces) : I add 1/4 cup shortening to the dry ingredients above, mix until crumbly, add liquid, roll out thin and fry on griddle 400 degrees or iron skillet. Brown one side and turn. Doesn't take long. |
