TREACLE SCONES 
2 c. sifted flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/3 c. butter
3 tbsp. Treacle or molasses
2/3 c. buttermilk

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Cut in butter and rub in with fingertips. Mix in treacle and buttermilk. Turn dough out on lightly floured board and pat into a circle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into wedges. Bake on cookie sheet at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes. Serve warm with butter. Makes 12.
