UPSIDE - DOWN APPLE - PECAN PIE 
2 tbsp. softened butter
30 pecan halves
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
Pastry for 9-inch 2-crust pie
6 c. cooking apples
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Milk

Line 9-inch pie pan with 13-inch circle of aluminum foil. Spread butter over bottom and side. Press pecan halves round side down into butter, then put pie crust over pecan. Combine next 5 ingredients; pile filling in crust. Put remaining crust over filling; seal.

Prick crust to let out steam. Brush with milk. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes, then 375 degrees until done. Remove; let stand 5 minutes. Invert pie on serving plate.
