OLD FASHIONED BOILED CUSTARD | |
1/2 gallon milk 1 c. sugar 2 tbsp. cornstarch 6 egg yolks 2 tsp. vanilla Dash nutmeg In double boiler, bring mild to almost boiling. Beat egg yolks and add to sugar and cornstarch to egg mixture, slowly add a cup of the milk, stirring constantly. Return egg and milk mixture to double boiler and cook until mixture begins to thicken about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and cook slightly before adding vanilla and beaten egg whites and nutmeg. Serve with whip cream. |
