OLD FASHIONED BAKED CUSTARD | |
Preheat oven to 450 degrees (have tea kettle boiling water while preheating oven). Heat 1 pint milk with 1/2 cup sugar to near boiling point (but not boiling). Beat 4 small eggs to a froth. Add 1 tsp. vanilla and 1/2 tsp. nutmeg. Remove the near boiling milk mixture and stir eggs in briskly. Place in custard cups or a casserole. Set into large pan of 1 1/2 inches boiling water and place in oven quickly. Bake 10 minutes or until brown on top then turn heat down to 350 degrees for 5 minutes. |
