AMARETTO BROWNIES 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. Amaretto
1/2 tsp. salt
4 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
4 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c. flour

Combine shortening and chocolate in a saucepan; place over low heat, stirring until melted. Add sugar; stir. Remove from heat; cool. Stir in eggs and Amaretto. Combine flour and salt, add to mixture, stirring well. Pour batter into 13"x9"x2" pan, bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool.

Frost with icing for Amaretto brownies.

ICING:

1/4 c. butter
2 tbsp. half and half
Dash salt
1 (1 oz.) square unsweetened chocolate
2 c. sifted powdered sugar
2 tbsp. Amaretto

Combine butter and chocolate in saucepan, place over low heat, stir until melted. Add half and half. Add powdered sugar, salt and Amaretto, blend well. Frost brownies, sprinkle with sliced almonds, cut into squares.
