TOFFEE BARS 
1/2 c. soft butter
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg, unbeaten
1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 c. uncooked rolled oats
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces (1 c.)
1/4 c. flaked coconut
1/4 c. chopped walnuts

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix butter, granulated and brown sugars, salt, vanilla and egg until light and fluffy. Mix in flour and rolled oats, blend well. Spread in greased 11 x 7 x 1 1/2 inch baking pan. Bake 30 minutes or until done. Cool 10 minutes.

Melt chocolate pieces over hot, not boiling, water. Stir until smooth. Spread over baked layer, sprinkle half with coconut and other half with nuts. Cool in pan. Cut into 24 bars.
