APPLE PIE TORTE | |
1/2 c. vegetable oil 1 egg 1 c. sugar 1 c. sifted flour 2 Granny Smith apples, cored 1/3 c. chopped nuts 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 tbsp. dark rum, brandy or sherry Beat oil with egg until foamy. Stir in sugar, flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, vanilla and rum. Batter will be very stiff. Dice 1 1/2 apples and add to batter with nuts. Slice remaining half apple. Spoon batter into greased 9 inch pie plate. Arrange apple slices in swirl, pressing lightly into batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Makes 1 (9 inch) pie. |
