APPLE DESSERT 
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Put all in large casserole, then pour 1 cup boiling water over all and stir to dissolve. Add apples halves that have been peeled and cored. Bake uncovered in moderate oven until apples are tender. Should stir a couple of times so the apples are down in the syrup. Add cinnamon if desired.
