1 stick butter
1/2 c. salad oil
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Blend butter, oil, sugar and egg. Sift remaining ingredients and add to first mixture, blending well. Spoon out and form a ball. Flatten with the bottom of a glass tumbler dipped in sugar. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees about 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
