SAVORY RED CABBAGE 
3 tbsp. bacon fat or vegetable oil
2 med. sized onions
1/2 c. vinegar
1/2 c. water
2 tsp. salt
Dash of paprika
2 tbsp. sugar
4-6 c. red cabbage, shredded
Raisins, to suit taste (opt.)

Heat fat or oil in saucepan. Add sliced onions and cook until soft and lightly browned. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and cook 30 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
