APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1 c. Crisco
2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
2 c. applesauce (unsweetened)
1/2 pt. strawberry preserves
2 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1 tbsp. hot water
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. raisins
1 c. nuts
4 c. flour

First, use one cup of flour to roll the nuts and raisins in so they will not sink to the bottom. Mix all ingredients (in the order listed) and pour into a 13x9-inch cake pan.

Bake at 300°F for 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 hours.
