COWBOY BEANS 
1 white or yellow onion OR
2 tbsp. onion salt
1 tbsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. black pepper
Salt to taste
3 - 4 strips bacon OR
1/2 c. Bacobits
1 tsp. vegetable oil
2 - 3 c. pinto beans

Put cleaned beans in a Dutch oven or slow cooker and cover with 2 inches of water. Add onion or onion salt, garlic salt, pepper and salt. Add strips of bacon or, for a lower fat dish, replace the bacon with the Bacobits and vegetable oil. Cook on low and stir occasionally. Cook until beans are tender, approximately 5 hours. Serves 4 - 6.
