SPICED CRANBERRY APPLES (RELISH) 
1 lb. fresh cranberries, rinse, discard soft berries, drain
1 (16 oz.) bottle light corn syrup
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
2 lbs. or 6 sm. green cooking apples, peeled, cored, halved
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. lemon zest

Combine berries, corn syrup, spices in large saucepan. Bring to boiling, stirring. Simmer over low heat 5 minutes. Add apples. Cook 5 minutes or until apples are just tender. Combine cornstarch and water. Stir into cranberry mixture. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat, stir in lemon zest. Spoon into bowl. Cover. Chill. Serves 12.
