HONEY WHOLE WHEAT BREAD | |
1/2 c. warm water 2 pkg. active dry yeast 1/2 c. honey 1 tsp. salt 1/4 c. shortening 2 1/4 c. warm water 6 1/2 c. whole wheat flour Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup water. Stir in honey, salt, shortening, water and 3 1/2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Mix in remaining flour. Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover, let rise until doubled. Punch down, divide in 1/2. Roll up each 1/2 into a rectangle. Spread dough in 2 greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pans. Cover, allow to double. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. Remove from pan and brush with butter. |
