SWEDISH COFFEE CAKE 
2/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. milk
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
3 eggs, beaten
1 pkg. dry yeast (dissolve in 1/4 c. warm water with 1 tsp. sugar)
1 1/2 tsp. ground cardamon

Bring milk to scalding. Pour over butter together. Place on greased cookie sheet. Cut with scissors at 1 inch intervals on the top. Then pinch the dough in between. Let rise (covered loosely) about 40-60 minutes. Beat 1 egg and brush the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

ICING:

1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 tbsp. water

Yield: 2 Coffee Cakes.
