13 BEAN SOUP 
2 c. bean mix
2 1/2 qt. water
Ham hock
1 onion, chopped
15 oz. can tomato sauce or 1 qt. tomatoes
1 tbsp. chili powder (more or less, according to taste)
2 cloves garlic, minced

Wash beans and soak overnight. In the morning drain and rinse and bring water to boil with the beans and ham hock. Reduce heat and simmer 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Add onion, tomato sauce, chili powder and garlic. Simmer 30 minutes. Sometimes I add 1/2 cup brown rice. Makes about 8 to 10 servings. Yummy!
