13 BEAN SOUP 
2 c. of 13 mixed beans
Ham or ham hocks
1 lg. onion
1 lg. can tomatoes
1 tsp. chili powder
1 clove chopped garlic
Juice of one lemon
Salt and pepper to taste

Wash beans thoroughly. Place in large kettle, add salt and pepper and soak overnight. Next day, drain, and add 2 quarts water and ham and ham hocks, simmer slowly 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Add onion (chopped), can tomatoes, chili powder, chopped garlic, and lemon juice. Salt and pepper to taste. Simmer another 30 minutes or so. Serve with crackers or green salad.
