FRIED OKRA | |
2 lbs. fresh okra 1/2 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1/2 c. cornmeal 4 tbsp. bacon drippings or salad oil (may take more) Wash okra well; drain. Cut off tip and stem ends. Slice okra across in 1/4 inch rounds. Season slices with salt and pepper; roll in cornmeal. Saute well coated okra in hot bacon drippings or salad oil until tender and golden brown on both sides. |
