I lined the bottom of casserole dish with sliced Italian bread with the crust removed and poured the ingredients on top it holds together better. I have used bacon, ham and sausage together meat lovers style good out of the oven or cold out of the refrigerator.

Great simple recipe that my family asks me to make every Sunday. We have branched out and used diced ham as well and crumbled bacon in place of sausage and it always turns out great.
For time challenged folks, aka I have 3 little girls and a wife that eat as soon as their feet hit the floor:-), mix this up the night before you bake it. That will save you the 20 minutes of prep time and several " is it done yet " question in the morning!!!! :-)

Have made this twice this holiday season, one for Christmas morn using Jimmy Dean sage flavor sausage and adding a bit more sage, then making it for New Years Day brunch using the maple flavor sausage plus a bit of crumbled bacon... The leftovers if any heat up great in microwave. My husband likes it so much he wants me to make this for him to take to his work and share.

LOOOOVE this recipe and ALWAYS get compliments on it whenever I make it. In fact, it is the only breakfast casserole recipe I use anymore! I also like to make it with Jimmy Dean Maple flavored sausage. Jimmy Dean has virtually zero grease to drain after cooking! It is really great!
