CONGO BARS 
2 3/4 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Mix and sift flour, baking powder, salt, and set aside. Soften shortening and mix with brown sugar. Blend well. Add eggs. Beat well after each addition. Add dry ingredients, nuts, and chocolate. Spoon into 13 x 9 inch greased pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until done.
