TEXAS CHILE CON CARNE
1 1/2 lbs. boneless beef (round steak or chuck is good), cut in bite sizes, strips or squares
2 tbsp. oil
1 1/2 c. thinly sliced onions
1 c. sliced green pepper (bite size)
1 lg. can tomatoes (cut up)
1 1/2 tsp. Lawry's seasoned salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
2 tbsp. chili powder (level)
1-2 cloves garlic, minced or crushed
1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans or chili beans in chili gravy (Hunts)
Add water if necessary or desired

I use an electric fry pan. Heat oil; saute meat. Add onions and green pepper; cook for 10 minutes. Mix in tomatoes and seasonings. Cook very slowly 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Add beans and cook 20 minutes more. Test for seasonings. Serves 4-6.

 Alan Ashworth says:
Beans are not put in Texas Chili! They may be served on the side but never in chili, otherwise it is a bean stew.
