BILL'S FAVORITE GRANOLA | |
15 minutes preparation time + 1 hour cooking time. Preheat oven to 250 degrees with 2 racks. 6 c. rolled oats (wheat flakes & soyflakes are nice) 1-2 c. sunflower seeds 1 c. almonds 1 c. wheat germ 1 handful sesame seeds 1/2 c. or 1 handful flaked coconut Sprinkle of cinnamon if you like 1/2 c. oil 3/4 c. honey 1/4 c. water (important) Add some vanilla if you like Raisins and other dried fruit may be added once the granola has been toasted and cooled. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add oil. Mix well. Use oiled measuring cup for the honey. it will slide right out! Then use the same cup for water. Mix well after adding each wet ingredient. Put half of raw granola onto each 14 inch pizza pan or large cookie sheet, spread evenly and bake for 1 hour. Immediately remove toasted granola from pans, otherwise it will stick. Put it into the bowl used for mixing to let it cool before putting it into a storage container. Yield: Makes about 1/2 gallon. |
