FINNISH MOLASSES BREAD | |
2 c. milk 6 tbsp. shortening 1 1/2 tbsp. salt 4 tbsp. brown sugar 1/2 to 2/3 c. molasses, depending on how dark you prefer it 2 c. rye or dark flour 4 c. white flour 1 yeast cake Add shortening to milk and scald. Let cool. Add yeast to enough warm water to dissolve Mix all ingredients together and add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Knead well. Divide into two pieces. Bake in loaf pans at 300 degrees for 1 hour. |
