WALDORF ASTORIA BEEF STEW 
2 lbs. beef stew meat or chuck roast cut in 2 inch cubes
4 stalks celery, cut up, 2 inches long or so
6 med. carrots, cut up, not too small
2 sm. onions, sliced
6 med. potatoes, cut up, not too small
3 tbsp. tapioca
Salt and pepper
1 tbsp. sugar
1 slice of bread, cubed
1 can tomato soup
1 (1 lb. 12 oz.) can tomatoes

Brown meat and place in 5 or 6 quart baking dish. Add all ingredients and mix thoroughly. Cover and place in 400 degree oven until bubbling and then reduce heat to 250 degrees and bake 5 hours. This serves 6 or more.
