THUMP PRINT COOKIES 
1/4 c. softened butter
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
3/4 c. chopped nuts
Raspberry jelly in middle of thump print

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix butter, shortening, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla. Work in flour and salt until dough holds together. Mix in nuts. Roll into 1 inch balls. Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheet. Press thump into center of cookie balls. Bake 10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and fill with filling. Or roll balls in egg yolks then crushed nuts and press thumb into cookie. When cookie is done, fill with any flavoring preserves.
