ROMAN APPLE CAKE 
Mix together:

2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla

Beat together. Fold in 1 quart chopped apples. Pour in a 9 x 13 inch pan.

TOPPING:

4 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. brown sugar
4 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nut meats

Sprinkle over top of batter and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
