MOM'S BANANA CAKE 
2/3 c. butter flavor Crisco or Crisco
1 2/3 c. sugar

2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

1 1/4 c. mashed ripe bananas
1/3 c. buttermilk

1/3 c. more buttermilk
2 eggs

2/3 c. chopped nuts

Bake in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Let cool and frost with cream filling (use 1/2 recipe).

CREAM FILLING:

1/4 c. unsifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
2/3 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts
1/2 tsp. butter flavoring

Combine flour, salt and milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thick and smooth. Cool. Cream Crisco and sugar. Add cooled milk mixture. Beat until light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla. Spread on cake. Top with finely chopped nuts.
