DROP CAKES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
3 c. white sguar
3 eggs
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
4 c. flour

Cream shortening, butter and sugar together. Add eggs. Dissolve baking soda in sour milk and add. Mix cream of tartar, and flour and stir into first mixture.

Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets and bake about 20 minutes at 350 degrees or until cakes spring back at a touch and are lightly browned. Makes 4 to 6 dozen.
