GUM DROP CAKE | |
1 1/2 lbs. fruit gum drops, cut & rolled in 1 c. flour 1 lb. white raisins 1 c. nuts 3 c. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. melted butter or shortening 2 c. sugar 2 eggs, beaten 1 1/2 c. sieved applesauce 1 tsp. baking soda in 1 tbsp. hot water 1 tsp. vanilla Beat eggs into sugar, melted butter, and applesauce. Add dry ingredients, nuts, raisins and gum drops. Bake in slow oven, 300 to 350 degrees for 2 to 3 hours. Makes 10 inch angel food (5 1/2 pounds) or 2 or 3 loaf pans. |
