WAIKIKI MEATBALLS 
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
2/3 c. cracker crumbs
1/3 c. minced onion
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. ginger
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. shortening
1/3 c. chopped green peppers
2 tsp. cornstarch
1 (13 1/2 oz.) can pineapple, drained. SAVE SYRUP
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/3 c. vinegar
1 tsp. soy sauce

Mix beef, crumbs, onion, egg, salt, ginger, and milk. Shape rounded tablespoons into balls. Melt shortening in skillet. Brown and cook meatballs. Remove meatballs; keep warm, pour off fat.

Mix cornstarch and sugar; stir in saved pineapple syrup, vinegar, soy sauce until smooth. Pour into skillet, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir one minute. Add meatballs, green peppers and pineapple tidbits. Heat thoroughly. 6 servings.
