SOUR CREAM SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. shortening (1/2 c. butter, 1/2 c. Crisco)
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 2/3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. sour cream

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix shortenings, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Measure flour by dip-level-pour method or by sifting. Blend dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Drop good size teaspoon of batter on a greased cookie sheet. Grease bottom of a flat bottom glass with butter. Dip glass in sugar and flatten each scoop of batter slightly. Sprinkle with sugar.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Begin checking at 8 minutes to see if they are done. Do not over bake. They become dry. (I only bake one sheet of cookies at a time.)
