MACARONI AND CHEESE 
1/2 lb. uncooked elbow macaroni
2 c. hot water
3 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. finely chopped onion
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 1/4 c. milk
12 oz. cheese, cut in cubes (about 3 c.)
1/3 c. flour

1. Combine macaroni, water, butter, onion, salt and pepper in a 2 quart casserole. Cover. Set microwave oven at power level 10 for 6 minutes and then power level 5 for 5 minutes. Stir twice during cooking.

2. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover. Microwave at power level 10 to 12-15 minutes or until macaroni is tender and sauce is thickened and bubbly, stirring every 3 minutes.

Makes 4 servings.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
