CREAMED CABBAGE WITH WALNUTS 
1 med. head cabbage, shredded
1/4 c. butter
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. salt (optional)
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 c. milk
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. shredded cheese
2 tbsp. bread crumbs

Cook cabbage in minimal amount of salted water until tender, about 7 minutes. Drain. Melt butter and blend in flour, salt and pepper. Stir in milk. Cook until thickened and at boiling point. Arrange cabbage in a greased 1 1/2 quart casserole in layers with walnuts, sauce and cheese, ending with cheese. Sprinkle with crumbs. Bake at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes. 6 servings.
