MILLION DOLLAR CAKE 
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
5 eggs, separated
1 c. buttermilk
3 c. flour
5 tbsp. strong coffee (made)
6 tsp. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening, sugar, egg yolks (added one at a time); beat well. Add milk, vanilla, and coffee; add sifted dry ingredients and beat well. Beat egg whites and fold them into batter.

Bake in tube pan 1 hour at 350 degrees.

ICING:

1 c. butter
1 egg
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. confectioners sugar
3 tbsp. coffee

Cream butter and beaten egg. Add dry ingredients and as much coffee as needed to make icing desired consistency.
