POPPY SEED CAKE | |
1/4 c. poppy seed 1 c. buttermilk 1 c. oil 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 2 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 4 eggs 1/3 c. sugar + 1 tsp. cinnamon Soak poppy seeds overnight in buttermilk or at least 2 hours. Cream oil and sugar; add 1 egg at a time, beat well. Sift flour, salt, soda and add alternately with buttermilk and poppy seeds. Mix all together. Put 1/2 of the batter in well greased or Pam sprayed 10" tube pan and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon that has been mixed. Add remaining batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes. Cool 15 minutes. |
