YUGOSLAVIAN SARMA - ZVITKI
1 med. head of cabbage
1/2 lb. ground pork
1/2 lb. ground beef
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 med. onion, chopped fine
1 beaten egg
1/3 c. uncooked rice
1 tbsp. chopped parsley

Remove 8 cabbage leaves. Cut off the hard section at stem. Drop into boiling water and boil 3 minutes to soften. Remove leaves. Mix well the remaining ingredients and divide over the 8 leaves. Fold sides of leaf over meat, overlapping edges. Roll up and tie with string or secure with toothpick.

Place close together in large fry pan. Pour sauce over and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer covered 1 hour, basting occasionally with sauce or bake covered at 350 degrees for 1 hour. When done, remove rolls. Sauce may be thickened by adding 2 tablespoons flour in 2 tablespoons water and boil 1 minute. Serve with boiled potatoes, green salad and berries with cream.

REALLY want to make this - I remember it from when I was a little girl! BUT, the "sauce" is missing!!!!! What are the ingredients of that?????

I believe the sauce is just a large can of Campbell's tomato soup. Thats how I have made mine and it turned out good. But you can invent whatever you want but I think that the tomato soup works the best.
