MERINGUE SHELLS 
3 egg whites, at room temp.
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Beat egg whites and cream of tartar at high speed, in small mixer bowl, until stiff but not dry. Add sugar 1 tablespoon at a time. Continue beating well. Add vanilla and mix well. Drop by large tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Depress center with back of spoon. Makes 8 to 10. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Cool on rack. Store in tightly covered container.
