MOM'S ICE BOX COOKIES | |
2 eggs, well beaten 1 c. white sugar 1 c. brown sugar 3/4 c. shortening (Crisco) 3/4 c. melted butter 1 tsp. vanilla 2 tbsp. hot water 4 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda Cream sugar, shortening, and add rest of ingredients except flour. Mix well. Add flour until dough is slightly stiff. Turn onto floured board and knead well. Form into 4 oblong rolls. Place on waxed paper lined cookie sheet. Place in refrigerator overnight. Cut in 1/4 inch slices. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until brown. You can freeze unbaked dough in the long rolls, then cut and bake as needed, while still frozen. |
