1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/3 c. milk
1/2 c. halved dates
1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. salted peanuts

Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan. Bring to a boil, stir constantly. Boil 3 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread in a buttered 8 x 8 inch pan. Chill until firm. (If desired sprinkle hot bars with 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces.) Spread to frost.
