GREEN TOMATO PICKLES 
1 peck green tomatoes
6 lg. onions
Salt
2 1/2 lbs. brown sugar
1 qt. pure cider vinegar
Spices (pickling)

Slice tomatoes and onions. Place in layers in stone jar. Sprinkle each layer with salt. Let stand overnight. In morning rinse and drain thoroughly. Put together brown sugar and vinegar. Add spices, tomatoes and onions. Cook until tender. Seal into sterilized jars. This was my mother's (Oline Souder) recipe.
