1 white or yellow cake mix Mix cake according to directions and bake in 9x13 inch pan. Remove from pan within 10 minutes and cool. Turn cake out onto waxed paper spread with powdered sugar. Quarter cake and slice each quarter in half horizontally. CREAM FILLING: 1 c. milk 1/4 c. flour 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. solid shortening 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. salt Cook flour and milk until thick. Cool. Beat the next 5 ingredients with electric mixer on HIGH for 4 minutes. Add cooled white sauce and beat to frosting consistency. Spread between sliced cake layers. Slice to "Twinkie" size. |
